Our Wit’s End won a Gold Medal at the 2013 California State Fair Commercial Craft Beer Competition! In addition, our Fat Hog Barleywine took a Silver Medal. For our first time out in a competition we are quite happy! For those who are not aware, the California State Fair began the Commercial Craft Brewing competition in 1993. Since that humble beginning, the competition has grown to over 475 entries from over 60 breweries in the state.
Wit’s End, a Belgian Style Witbier, is brewed traditionally with Belgian Pils Malt, wheat malt, unmalted barley and wheat, and spiced with coriander, fresh orange zest from our local groves, and other spices. Our Fat Hog Barleywine boasts a dense, fruity bouquet, an intense flavor palate and a deep reddish-brown color. Its big malty flavors are superbly balanced by a wonderfully bittersweet hoppiness. Check out the official results from this year’s Commercial Craft Beer Competition here.
Come down and enjoy our Wit’s End at the brewery any time. For this occasion we will be tapping a keg of Fat Hog at 1PM on Friday, July 5th to add to your holiday weekend enjoyment!
